NTC Temperature Sensor, Printer Temperature Management Guarantee
2025/07/25 03:07:22

In the evolution of printing technology from laser fixation to thermal imaging, the accuracy of temperature control has always been a core factor in determining the output quality and operational reliability of printer. As an integral part of printer temperature management, NTC temperature sensor takes advantage of its resistance value to rapidly decreases with temperature increases, providing important temperature data for the efficient operation of the printer.

1. Fixation temperature control, a key part of laser printing

In laser printer, the fixation process is to permanently curing toner onto paper through high-temperature heating, this process with strict temperature requirements. If the fixation temperature is low, it will cause the toner to melt insufficiently, resulting in the image shedding; If the fixation temperature is too high, it is easy to cause the paper to scorch or even the risk of fire. Therefore, the printer needs to cooperate with the NTC temperature sensor to sense the temperature change of the fixation component in real time. When the operating temperature of the fixation roller changes, the resistance value of the NTC temperature sensor is converted into a voltage signal through the ADC and transmitted to the printer MCU. When the fixation temperature is too low, the MCU will issue a command to increase the power supply to the heating component, so that the fixation roller heats up quickly. When the fixation temperature is too high, the power supply is reduced to avoid excessive toner melting from damaging the paper or causing uneven fixation. With the assistance of NTC temperature sensor, the printer can effectively reduce print quality defects caused by fixation temperature problems while ensuring the clarity and stability of printed documents.

2. Printing temperature protection, the first element of thermal printing

The print head of a thermal printer will generate heat during work, and if there is no temperature protection, the print head is easily damaged by overheating, affecting the print quality and service life of printer. Utilizing the sensitivity of NTC temperature sensor to temperature change, it is possible to monitor the print head temperature in real time and provide efficient temperature protection. When the print head temperature rises, the resistance value of the NTC temperature sensor decreases, and the current or voltage signal in the circuit changes, which will be fed back to the printer control system. Once the temperature approaches or reaches the preset temperature threshold, the control system immediately takes measures, such as reducing the printing speed and pausing the printing task, so that the print head can dissipate heat and cool down, avoid problems such as clogged print head nozzles, uneven inkjet, or damage to the thermal print head coating caused by overheating. Thus, the stable working state of the print head is maintained, the accuracy of ink droplet injection during the printing process is ensured, and the clarity of printed text and images is guaranteed.

Whether it is the laser printer fixation component for effective toner fixation, or the thermal printer to maintain stable inkjet or thermal printing, it is closely related to temperature. With its excellent electrical performance, the NTC temperature sensor of EXSENSE electronics can accurately capture temperature changes, and its accuracy control of the temperature of the fixation component ensures the perfect adhesion of toner on the paper and avoids print quality problems caused by abnormal temperatures. At the same time, the temperature monitoring and protection of the print head by NTC temperature sensor extends its service life and ensures the consistency and stability of the printing process.
