First, iron soldering
This soldering process mainly melts the solder by heating the soldering tip, then uses it to solder the NTC thermistor chip with the lead or substrate. In general, the solder used in the iron soldering process will have flux to assist soldering, and some manufacturers will choose to apply additional flux to increase the soldering of thermistor chip and base metal. Using the iron soldering process, EXSENSE Electronics recommends a soldering temperature of ≤ 340℃ and a soldering time of ≤3s. In the iron soldering process, there are the following two points to pay attention to:
1. The temperature of the soldering tip is high, and it is easy to cause temperature shock to the NTC thermistor chip during the soldering process, resulting in the cracking of the thermistor chip. Multiple contact soldering with a soldering tip can cause multiple temperature shocks.
2. Too much flux will easily cause residue, which may cause damage to the thermistor chip when cleaning up the flux.
Second, dip soldering
This soldering process is mainly to dip the NTC thermistor chip and the lead or substrate into a solder pot for soldering. Using the dip soldering process, EXSENSE Electronics recommends a soldering temperature of ≤ 280℃ and a soldering time of ≤3s. In the dip soldering process, there are the following two points to pay attention to:
1. A large amount of tin and too long soldering time can easily cause the precipitation of electrodes of NTC thermistor chip.
2. The surface of the solder pot is easy to form tin ash and tin slag, if it is not cleaned up in time, which is easy to cause short circuit, tin connection and other phenomena.
With the continuous development of soldering process technology, the soldering method of thermistor chip has also been continuously improved. However, no matter what kind of soldering process of NTC thermistor chip, it is necessary to comprehensively consider the application scenario, working efficiency, production scale and other factors to choose the best solution.
