Accuracy Temperature Monitoring Application of NTC Temperature Sensor in Robot Vacuum

During the operation of the robot vacuum, the NTC temperature sensor plays a key temperature monitoring role, helping the robot vacuum monitor and control the temperature of the internal components. The working principle of NTC is based on the characteristic that its own resistance value decreases rapidly with the increase of temperature, and the corresponding temperature value is obtained by measuring the resistance value, accurately sensing the temperature change of the robot vacuum components, providing a strong guarantee for the stable operation of the robot vacuum.

In order to achieve all-round temperature monitoring and control, NTC temperature sensors are mainly distributed in the three core areas of the robot vacuum:

1. Battery pack: monitor the operating temperature of the battery

The battery of the robot vacuum will generate heat during the charging and discharging process. Excess temperature will accelerate the aging rate of the battery and the decay of battery capacity. An NTC temperature sensor is installed to monitor the battery temperature changes. Once the temperature approaches/exceeds the safety threshold, the main control system will immediately activate protective measures, such as increasing the speed of the cooling fan, cutting off the charging, discharging circuit, etc., to effectively prevent the battery performance of the robot vacuum from declining or being damaged due to high temperature.

2. Motor winding: captures the temperature change during the operation of the drive motor

As the core power source of the robot vacuum, the motor generates a lot of heat when running at high speed for a long time. When the temperature of the motor is too high, the performance of its winding insulation material will gradually decline, resulting in reduced motor efficiency and may even cause short circuit failure, which will seriously affect the normal use of the robot vacuum.

When the NTC temperature sensor detects the temperature increase of the motor of the robot vacuum, its resistance value will drop rapidly, and the temperature change will be converted into an electrical signal and transmitted to the main control system of the robot vacuum. After receiving the signal, the main control system will reduce the power output of the motor by reducing the speed and other measures to improve the heating situation. Through this accuracy temperature feedback control mechanism, the working temperature of the motor can be maintained within the appropriate range, ensuring the stable operation of the robot vacuum.

3. Water tank: real-time measurement of water temperature

When the robot vacuum performs wet mopping work, if the water temperature is too low, the activity of the cleaning liquid is difficult to give full play, and the ability to dissolve and remove stubborn stains is weakened, resulting in poor cleaning effect. If the water temperature is too high, it is easy to damage the floor (especially solid wood floors), which may cause problems such as deformation, cracking, and fading of the floor.

Therefore, the addition of NTC temperature sensor can monitor the water temperature of the robot vacuum water tank in real time. When it is lower than the preset temperature, NTC will quickly feed back the data to the main control system, and the main control system will immediately activate the heating module to increase the water temperature to ensure the wet mopping cleaning effect of the robot vacuum. When the water temperature is higher than the preset temperature, the main control system will cut off the power supply to stop heating to avoid damage to the floor or affect the service life of the components due to overheating.
