Over-temperature Monitoring of NTC Thermistor in Automotive Water Temperature Sensor

Automotive water temperature sensor installed on the cylinder block of the automobile engine is used to measure the temperature of the engine coolant and help  the control unit (ECU) process the signal, which is an indispensable part of the engine. Automotive water temperature sensor uses automotive NTC thermistor for real-time temperature monitoring and temperature protection, which can improve the working efficiency and service life of automotive engine and air conditioning compressor, save automotive energy.

In order to better assist the work of the NTC thermistor, reduce the engine load, and maintain the power performance of the engine, EXSENSE Electronics introduced a control amplifier that can perform sensitive and accurate monitoring of the automotive water temperature sensor composed of the NTC thermistor, as well as the temperature monitoring of the evaporator air outlet, and make timely and effective control. The control amplifier is composed of power supply, compressor clutch control circuit, which is characterized by a water temperature detection circuit connected to the automotive water temperature sensor composed of an NTC thermistor, an evaporator temperature detection circuit connected to a temperature sensor composed of a thermistor, an ignition state detection circuit connected to the automotive ignition switch, an acceleration state detection circuit connected to the automotive accelerator switch, and an air conditioning switch status detection circuit connected to the air conditioning switch. There is also an output control circuit connected to the output of the detection circuit that performs logic judgment and outputs a control signal according to the time delay requirements, and an idle speed increase control circuit.

Automobile NTC thermistor developed and produced by EXSENSE Electronics Technology Co., Ltd. has the characteristics of high sensitivity, great reliability and fast response. Its operating temperature range is -50~+180℃ (can up to 200℃ in a short time), so it is widely used in automobile water temperature sensors and other products that need temperature measurement at high temperature, which plays the role of temperature monitoring and temperature protection.
